Steve got up and went out to flyfish for bonefish. I had a miserable night sratching due to bug bites at lunch yesterday. Some people are immune to bugs and others are well, just irresistible. Unfortunately I find the scratching at bug bites irresistible, and therefore spent  much more time scratching than sleeping.

Breakfast was two eggs over with bacon and coffee. No dragonfruit this morning, but there was watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple and blueberries.

This is a picture of the sideboard at breakfast from a previous trip in December.

At breakfast many of us were comparing our legs, seeing who had the most bites. Although my bites were not as plentiful as others, I won the prize for the size of welts and skin discolorations. Due to my being on Xarelto, I think I bruised myself with the intensity of my scratching. So now not only do I have small welts, I have these big blotches of redness. I would ordinarily post pictures of eventful situations, but as I don’t want to make anyone vomit, I am keeping my skin pictures to myself. You don’t know how lucky you are.

Jane and Anne went swimming, while I read and tried not to scratch my legs. By lunch time I was convinced that I needed to beg for Benadryl from one of the other guests and a glass of rose to try to calm myself down. I was probably giving everyone the willies with the intensity of my twitching.

I followed my Benadryl with a glass of wine with a green salad with roasted vegetables and grilled chicken with a side order of sweet potato fries. Since I had broken Passover the night before and had my glass of wine at lunch I threw all caution to the wind and had each of the two types of cookies offered.

I warned everyone that with the addition of the Benadryl and a glass of wine, who knew what stories I might tell at lunch! As you can imagine, there were lots of laughs ensuing.

After lunch I went back to the room to read. I was thinking about going in the pool, hoping the chlorine in the pool and sun would settle my skin. Then I worried that I might fall asleep and not be able to move and get more bug bites. So I ended up taking a nap.

Steve came back and he had a pretty good day bonefishing. He caught five, but they weren’t of any great size. The fish were a bit finicky, but you can’t always catch a big fish. Head of the table went to one of the other Steve’s.

The first canapé was a cracker with spinach and pine nuts.

The second canapé was tuna poke on a sesame crisp. Peter , who was sitting next to me while we were watching The Master’s, admonished me for calling it gloppy. Steve told Peter not to be offended, as I use that adjective frequently.

We had another beautiful rainbow, the end of it fell into the water below the lodge. The beach is still messy with seaweed, it needs its weekly raking with the tractor pronto.

Our appetizer this evening was stone crab claws. There isn’t much meat on the claw, but it is tasty.

Steve had the Cornish game hen for dinner.

I had the duo of lobster tails, poached and fried.

Unfortunately it was Friday night and Jason the chef likes to do a fruit and cheese presentation. I’ll have to wait for something sweet on Saturday night.

During the cheese course Max brought out a cardboard fish. They are using it, to try to teach the guides how to take better pictures of the guests with fish. Sometimes the fish aren’t completely in the picture, or the angle of the shot is off. Here is Steve holding the cutout, while I am cracking up. You can tell that I am multitasking and checking things out on my phone as I am wearing my reading glasses at dinner. Although wearing the glasses helps me see the food better. Food always looks better when it is in focus!

This is Steve holding his nine pounder Bonefish from yesterday. The fish is not completely in the picture and it is not held on an angle.

We skipped the after dinner tea, and went downstairs to bed.

Today’s questions:

A recent article showed that 33% of millennials believe the world is flat.

Do you believe the world is flat or round?

Are you a millennial?”

Do you prefer lobster or game hen?
